Meta

This page is specifically about Meta and on their abhorrent misuse of your camera roll and media you may thought was your personal material.

Forget that.

Unfortunately – unless you really know what YOU are doing,  with ensuring every possible privacy setting is always in place –  assume all media you have can be accessed by big US companies and indirectly anyone including authorities around the world, as your information is for sale.  (Aug 2025)

(The text was first compiled on 2025-08-25 and in English for a broader audience of friends and relatives around the world. Slightly edited here.)

WARNING for Meta using your photos for way more than you may think. This is outrageous!
See article below.

My recommendations, and an Ask:

For people serious about Privacy:
Be very careful with using anything Meta.

For more technically-savvy people:
Do continuously keep up with news on what they (Meta) are doing.
Fix settings like mentioned in article a.s.a.p.

For less technically-savvy people, and/or don’t care or bother too much about Privacy:
IF you have Facebook app on your phone and any media of me, J, I kindly ask you to immediately remove ALL media that include anything of me.
Even if you fix settings.
As I do NOT trust Meta to any degree not to sneak in any mischievous tricks in any future. Even if you fix settings now.

It’s not a devil in disguise, it IS the Devil.

J

Meta might be secretly scanning your phone’s camera roll – how to check and turn it off

Some Facebook users have noticed new settings that let Meta analyze and retain your phone’s photos.
Yes, you read that right.Written by Elyse Betters Picaro, Senior Contributing Editor

… “Some Facebook users have noticed that, deep within their app settings, Meta has switched on two toggles that allow it to access their camera roll “…

P.S. If anyone wonder How the hell can they do something like this?

Answer: Easy, for two reasons.

1) Who is actually reading all the terms of use / legal documents companies requests you to approve before allowing you to use their services/software/similar?

Texts that can easily be many tens of pages of legal hard-to-fully-comprehend texts

You not unlikely may already have approved them doing all this crazy stuff. (Take all your personal information and do whatever please them. Sell to highest bidders, provide to authoritarian regimes with weak laws-and-order for regular citizens like in China and USA.)

2) They anyway don’t give a shit and take the lawsuits that may happen when they happen.

Even if that could involve EU and billions of dollars in fines.
