TSV27 – Feb 2027, Lubbock (TX), Madrid (NM), Santa Fe (NM), Taos (NM), and Taos Ski Valley (NM)

Roughly this year plan, weekend AFTER Presidents’ Day Feb 15 and thereafter.

 

  • For applying for time-off: Fri Feb 19 + Mon-Fri Feb 22-26 = 6 days of vacation
  • Four (4) whole skiing days, Mon-Thu, Feb 22-25
  • Two nights and kind of days in Santa Fe – lovely city!
  • We usually drive, take the car i.e. (not flying)
    • So we can bring food, skiing clothes, boots, helmets, …
    • Up
      • Start Thu later-afternoon, to Lubbock (more transport BUT *always* (has become a tradition), have dinner at a nice restaurant – Triple J Chophouse & Brew Co.”a Texas-themed steakhouse and brewpub located in Lubbock, Texas, situated in the Depot District across from the Buddy Holly Museum.”
      • Fri: start early towards Santa Fe but DO take a small detour by Madrid, New Mexico.
        • For lunch and a bear, walking the town.
        • Continue to Santa Fe (some 40 min drive)
        • Fri evening in Santa Fe, love the city!
      • Sat: whole day in SF,
        • walking the city
        • up on a mountain
        • definitely Canyon Road, incl. up to favorite place of ours for some mimosa flight and not uncommon also live music.
      • Sun: wake up, have breakfast, eventually start drive up to Taos, not Taos Ski Valley
        • Stop in Taos, usually complementing w milk etc, fresh breakfast,
        • Then continue up to Taos Ski Valley (TSV) towards 3 pm, when we can check-in
        • Over to rent skis (we got the rest)
      • Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu – Living the Dream in the Slopes!
        • Lunch breaks in slopes
        • After-ski at some bar
        • Typically fixing with dinner at home
    • Back
      • Start early Fri morning, and have the last years actually driven whole stretch home in one day. DO take some time (12-14 hrs depending on number of stops) and usually been home in Austin towards midnight.
